The Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) is here to help facilitate your professional development! Faculty members have different specific goals—designing new courses, clarifying their teaching philosophy, conducting more research, enhancing their classroom presence, learning about pedagogical theory, and more. The CLT supports all these goals under the overarching philosophy of helping faculty become more authentic educators. That means exploring who you are as a teacher and what works for you, and developing reflective practices so you can continue to grow. The CLT’s offerings include:
-
- Individual coaching on teaching, course design, DEI, developing your teaching philosophy, reflective practices, Canvas, and more
- Peer support and co-working space for your research projects
- Training — including one-off workshops, workshop series, and learning communities — on pedagogical theory, assessment strategies, course and project design, DEI, and educational technology
- Self-service resources, available 24/7 through the CLT website and social media channels (YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter)
- Support for getting started with Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (scholarship based on your own teaching)
- Opportunities to connect in fun ways, including social snack and lunch events, the Treat Trolley, and more
The CLT also supports faculty who are working toward promotion as they create their portfolios. Director of Learning and Teaching Rebecca Mills provides individual coaching in this area.Learn more about the CLT’s professional development resources, and check their Calendar of Events for upcoming opportunities!
